What is AIS?
The Academy of Innovative Studies (AIS) High School is an alternative school in Evansville, Indiana, open to students in grades 9 - 12.
We are located at the corner of Stringtown Road and Diamond Avenue (in the old North building).
We offer a non-traditional learning environment geared to addressing the holistic needs of all students.
Prior to enrollment, each student has an Individualized Education Plan or Individualized Service Plan.
AIS High School students have the possibility of graduating with a Core 40 Diploma or working toward earning their GED.
With smaller class sizes, each student has the opportunity for more individualized attention and instruction.
We do not follow a blocked schedule; instead, students take (4) courses every day for one quarter/grading period and take another (4) courses the next quarter/grading period.
This allows students to focus on fewer courses, but still earn (8) credits each semester.
On-site counseling and assessments, provided by community partners, are available to all qualifying students at AIS.
We are fully accredited and led by Principal Elizabeth Carnahan who is also the EVSC Director of AIS Special Projects.
